Podcast - Episode 117: Justice League

justice-league-movie-team-photo.jpg

We saw Justice League! It's the story of a badass woman teaming up with two beautiful teenagers, an impossibly sexy sea man, and Ben Affleck to bring Superman and his chest hair back from the dead.

We didn't hate it!

Thanks for listening, and you're lucky I was even alive to post this episode because the cover of the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter damn near killed me:

I mean, come on, Hollywood Reporter. You can't just post that without a LOT of warning.

Armie Hammer for Warlock, 2020!

Podcast - Episode 111: Favourite Single Issues (Part 1)

Hero-Envy-FantasticFour05.jpg

This week we tasked ourselves with each choosing five of our favourite single comic book issues. It was not easy, but between us we have a pretty solid list of ten comics. Because it was so challenging to get it down to so few, we are probably going to make this a recurring episode theme. Maybe monthly? I dunno.

Here are the lists, so you can head to your local shop and hunt them down:

DAVE:

Avengers #154
GI Joe #21
Doom Patrol #19
Tom Strong #1
Eightball #22

Rachelle:

Jonah Hex #50
Captain America (and Bucky) #620
All-Star Superman #5
Wolverine Weapon X #11
Batman Legends of the Dark Knight #125

And here's that very important Jeremy Renner Instagram post:

Good stuff.

Alright, we will see you next week! Thanks for listening!

Podcast - Episode 110: Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt by J.M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck

banner - kravens last hunt.jpg

The final week of our Summer Book Club (and the final week of summer! Sob!) and we are talking about the classic Spider-Man story, Kraven's Last Hunt.

A Winter Soldier (and Hawkeye) comic was announced this week! An actual Winter Solider (and Hawkeye) comic!

Tales-of-Suspense-100.jpg

Ugly pointless movie mask? "Red Ledger"? Hawkeye? It definitely looks like they are appealing to the movie fans, right? Anyway, I'm excited. And I love the little corner box. I know we were making fun of Marvel's announcement about the return of corner boxes months ago, but looking at this cover now, I am pretty delighted.

Let's look at how relentlessly sexy Kraven's Last Hunt is.

Naked pouncing sexy:

Peek-a-boo abs wallet sexy:

Soul-searching mattress-gripping underwear sexy:

Horny after digging your way out of your own grave sexy:

Casually undressing in front of your enemy sexy:

Casually "dressing" in front of your enemy sexy:

Intimate chin-tipping sexy:

Unnecessarily hot police evidence photos sexy:

And, just for fun, here's Spidey straight dumping Kraven off of an elephant:

That has to be one of the best panels of all time.

See you next week for some of our favourite single issues! Thanks for listening!

Podcast - Episode 109: Young Avengers (Marvel) by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung

The 2017 Living Between Wednesdays Summer Book Club is nearly done! We'll be ending it next week with Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt. But first: it's Young Avengers by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung!

I seriously can't believe how old these comics are. 2005?! Seriously?! Steve Rogers still thought Bucky was dead! He didn't know how much worse the truth is!

Obviously between this recording and the day it was posted, Disney announced that J.J. Abrams will indeed be directing Episode IX of Star Wars. But maybe a weekly podcast isn't your most reliable source for up-to-date entertainment news.

If you want to read the "article" about how "Leonardo DiCaprio" "told" Stan Lee that he "wants" to play him in a movie, it's here.

And if you want to see some adorable Pennywise illustrations by J.Bone, here you go!

And if you want to see a picture of Sebastian Stan in VERY tight pants at TIFF last week, here you go:

He's gonna need help taking those off, I think...

See you next week for Kraven's Last Hunt!

Podcast - Episode 108: The Valiant (Valiant) by Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt and Paolo Rivera

banner - valiant.jpg

Dave and I celebrated my 37th birthday by going to see The Inhumans in IMAX. It was...something. We talk a lot about that in this episode, but we also talk about The Valiant, by the all-star creative team of Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt and Paolo Rivera.

We also talk quite a bit about the final issue of Marvel's Secret Empire, which, in the grand tradition of superhero comic book events, was confusing and kind of a letdown. But we still really enjoyed the event overall.

Here's that panel of Bucky, um, communicating(?) with Steve:

I mean, that is laugh-out-loud funny.

And then!

SE10-Bucky.jpg

*sniff!* You did it, guys. You did it!

Here's what I was talking about when I said Scarlet Witch's boobs looked weird on the cover of Uncanny Avengers this week:

Weird, right? I stared at that forever. Longer than I usually stare at tits, anyway. She just looks uncomfortable. Get a bra that fits, Wanda!

Anyway. Next week we're talking about Young Avengers by Alan Heinberg and Jim Cheung. I'm looking forward to some teen angst!

I'm off to check out Ninjak, Eternal Warrior, and Bloodshot comics!

Podcast - Episode 107: Ms Marvel: No Normal (Marvel) by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona

book club banner.jpg

This week for the summer book club we read the first volume of Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona. Debuting in 2014, Kamala Khan has quickly become a fan favourite character and this book definitely shows you why.

I haven't read the final issue of Secret Empire yet, as of writing this, but I am very much looking forward to some sweet, sweet angst. But I really will feel bad for Zemo. He's gonna be so sad about not being Steve's friend! These panels from issue #9 killed me:

Aw. Sweetie.

Thanks for listening! See you next week when we will be talking about The Valiant by Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt, and Paolo Rivera!
